Teapot
This is a teapot. The model was created by Christina Faraj and provided for the "Renderman Art Challenge." As the challenge suggests, this was rendered using Pixar's Renderman for Maya. I created the materials used in the render. The materials used are largely procedural with hand painted additions for several oxide stains. The stamp featured in the center is "皮克斯," the phonetic transcription of "Pixar" in Chinese characters. The stamp is an attempt to mimic Yixing clay teapot makers marks. If I've made an error, please reach out to me so I may remedy it.

For this project, I'm emphasizing plausible surface history with realistic signs of wear and age. To achieve this effect, I'm making extensive use of Renderman's "PxrDirt" node to apply masks influenced by surface geometry. For instance, the exposed edge of the teapot is more likely to be dented and worn. Corrosion appears in places which are less handled or can evade contact by hiding in crevices. I had a great time texturing this model and look forward to posting more content and renders from this challenge.
